I couldn't say good bye (good riddance) to 2009 without posting the same list of questions I answered at this time 2 years in a row. Happy New Years! May 2010 be even better than 2009!
- What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before? Turned down a lucrative consulting job that would have been the perfect fit for me (or at least I thought it would be). Family is more important.
- Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I didn't make any real resolutions for 2009, but I made some for 2010.
- Did anyone close to you give birth? A co-worker who has become a true friend gave birth to her second daughter in October.
- Did anyone close to you die? No - thankfully no.
- What would you like to have in 2010 that you did not in 2009? Same answer as last year - Peace of mind, less around the middle, and more money in the bank.
- What was your biggest achievement of 2009? This was also my biggest failure because it was the beginning of the end for something very big in my life. Realizing that being afraid is not a good enough reason to forgo a shot at happiness.
- What was your biggest failure? Admitting that I made choices based on fear and that to "fix" what is broken, I have to break something else.
- Did you suffer illness or injury? So far so good, but the year isn't over yet.
- What was the best thing you bought? Two (2) Metra engines for an HO gage train set. They were Christmas presents for the boys and the looks on their faces were priceless.
- Whose behavior merited celebration? My oldest son. He has worked very hard to overcome his anxiety and shyness and any fear about the "ghost of autism" that we thought was nearby is nowhere to be found.
- Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? It's a tie between me and my husband.
- Where did most of your money go? I have NO idea.
- What did you really get excited about this year? I had such high hopes for 2009. I was excited going into it, but things quickly changed. Even though this was not a banner year for us, I am hopeful that things will get better. At least I can be thankful that my sons are healthy and I still have a job.
- Compared to this time of year are you happier or sadder (sadder) thinner or fatter (a little fatter, but I'm working on it) richer or poorer (poorer in terms of dollars, richer in non-monetary terms, and always ALWAYS wiser).
- What do you wish you'd done more of? Like last year, I wish I'd eaten less and spent more time exercising; I wish I'd spent less and saved more; and I wish I could have fixed what is now broken.
- How did you spend Christmas last year? We stayed home and did absolutely nothing. It was awesome!
- Did you fall in love in 2009? I fell out of love before 2009, but it took me until this year to admit it. Thankfully, I have 2 wonderful sons and I fall in love every time I see their faces and look into their beautiful eyes.
- How many one-night stands? NONE
- What was your favorite TV Program? The Hills because my life is not as dramatic as I thought; Being Erica; and Gossip Girl. I like to be entertained.
- What did you want and get? I wanted my oldest son to do well in school and learn to become more social and he achieved this. Last year I said that I wanted to learn to like myself and I think I achieved that. At least, I don't HATE myself.
- What did you want and not get? Like always I wanted peace of mind and it's something that is a never ending journey. I wanted to be happy but that is a constant journey. The things that I wanted and got, I cherish. The things that I wanted and did not get - well, like the Cubs - there's always next year.
